Javan soft shell jacket needs a waist draw cord
"This softshell features a light fabric that stretches nicely across the back and through the arms. It's soft to the hand, with a light fleece backing and is quite comfortable (I've had soft shells that aren't). The hang tag claims it's a 3 layer fabric and the jacket bears the "WEATHER SHIELD" logo at the wrist, but when I asked I was told that it's a DWR and that the jacket doesn't have a membrane, so I don't know why the tag would claim it has 3 layers. I'm fit at ~ 6'' 1' and ~ 180 and find the cut of the men's L jacket is generous, as the sleeves are long enough and the hood is not too tight, though it only has two draw cords at the neck and no other adjustments. The cut, however, is very boxy through the body, so it was obviously made for layering. I use soft shells as windproof outer layers, but I don't knw how "wind resistant" this material is. It has zippered pockets at the waist and on the chest and all are ample. My complaint is that there's no draw cord at the waist and the boxy cut definitely needs it. I have other Avalanche jackets that feature nice draw cords that make their jackets very versatile, as wear alone or layering pieces. But without the cinch, this jacket becomes a sweatshirt and is relegated to the bargain bin. All the other Avalanche gear I have is surprisingly nice (for the price) .This would be a nice piece, too (assuming that it blocks the wind), if it had a draw cord: I'd highly recommend they add one."
